Pink Saturday-Happy 4th Birthday

Linking up with Beverly over at Pink Saturday, stop by and check out all the pinks.   http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog
It's a celebration today for Beverly, this is the 4th Birthday of her Pink Saturdays link up party, Congrats to you Beverly, you've created a fun event that has brought much joy to many people and formed some "on-line" friendships.  My 1st Pink Saturday Post was on Beverly's 1st Anniversary May 30th, 2009.  So let's see, yep, that's three year's of Pink Saturdays for me, although I don't make every Saturday because well sometimes, life just happens.
This party was actually for my very good friend's birthday in February and I never did get around to posting it, but here's a pretty pink present with a handmade tag with a pink crochet flower.
Oh and I made my first attempt at the cake pops and are they yummy, I of course had to eat all the ones that the cake balls fell off of the sticks because I stuck them in too far or tapped the dripping chocolate a little too hard!
"Friendship"
A pretty black, white and pink card...love this combination.
That about does it all the components of a sweet little birthday get together, friends, presents, cake, birthday card and flowers!
 Happy Pink Birthday!
Hugs, Michelle

Feather Your Nest Friday

Today I'm linking up with Feathered Nest Friday: http://frenchcountrycottage.blogspot.com/
Please go check out Countney's blog-French Country Cottage and see all the great links.

Fleurs...my nest always feels a little more feathered with fresh flowers.  I love this time of year late spring, early summer with  iris, lupine, pansies, dianthus and daisies blooming.
I stayed with a color them of white, purple and pink and clustered many different sized vases and then put them all on my cake stand with a frilly crocheted doily and set it upon my table in the foyer, so it's the first thing you see when you open the front door.
The siberian/japenese iris and purple/white bearded iris are from my Dad/Mom's greenhouse many years ago, which had come from my grandmother's flower garden, so they are of course a very sweet treasure to me now.
A few shot for you to enjoy from the gaden.

The clump birch tree is from my parents also, about 20 years ago, these trees look great in every season.
Portrait of a very pretty lady..."Iris"!
Yes, you can see I need to do a little weeding.
I absolutely LOVE this Iris.

Quilt Display

Today I'm linking up with Feathered Nest Friday:  http://frenchcountrycottage.blogspot.com/
Please go check out Countney's blog-French Country Cottage, amazing.

Quilts...how do you use your quilts, just for beds or do you decorate with them?  Here's one way I decorate with quilts in my family room.  I have a quilt ladder, I used to have a quilts folded up small one on each rung and then decided it really didn't look that great, and now I have just three displayed so you can see more of them.
Another, display opportunity is on the porch, over a rocker, I just have one rocker, but I have visions of someday having one of those beautiful porch rooms and lots of comfy furniture and lots of quilts all around.

I just finished the binding on this quilt last Sunday.

The squares in the center are blocks I bought a few years ago on e-bay, someone beautiful lady had stitched all these cross stitched baskets and flowers and bordered them with a feedsack floral print, so I just sewed them together and added borders.

I used some pretty Kaffe Fassett purple tones that mix vintage with modern, but I think the colors make it work.

I picked a lovely polka dot for the backing and quilted it with a purple thread.
There was a reason, of course for displaying this particular quilt on the rocker by the porch, see the bearded iris, how could one resist.
"One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God.  The Lord opened her heart to to respond to Paul's message."  Acts 16:14

Have a beautiful day!  Blessings, Michelle

Happy Mother's Day

I picked this book up last week and can't wait to try so many recipes. I made one already called "Dump Cake". The easiest recipe possble, and so delicious.  Only lasted one day.  :)

This post is dedicatd to my Mother...the coffee and tea pot were always on in her country kitchen.  There was always a baked "goodie" around, because someone family, friend or neighbor was always dropping in.  My mother had a wonderful gift hospitaliy, warm, kind and loving.  I l.ove you Mom, miss you and can't wait to spend eternity with you.

"The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we {together} will always be with the Lord.  Therefore encourag one another with these words.  --1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

My daughter blessed me with this book and teapot/saucer.  She is so sweet.  My son gave me the best hug and lovely apple vanilla candle.  He's also helping with some gardening.

Look at this tote too, so cute.  Had a wonderful day.
