This is my first time participating in the Doll Quil Swap. It has been a lot of fun. I probably started an an unusual way, I started with my quilting pattern, that I fell in love with, Raggedy Anne. Then I received the quilt information on how the doll quilt swap when, and received my secret person's name and blog. I have to tell you when I went to her blog, I was so excited because I think she will like what I have in mind to do. Went to ebay and bid on vintage Raggedy Anne fabric and this is what I bought and fussy cut it. Then a trip to my local quilt store to pick up some various reds/blue. I browsed thru some doll quilt books and came of with this traditional mini 9 patch design. It is a very traditional looking quilt, but I think it suits the fabric. I could just imagine some little girl playing with this quilt. I'm hoping my partner with be happy with it. I still need to label it and then I'm ready to ship it. I have collected some Raggedy Anne items in the past and the story behind the doll has touched me.
I think I will use this as this week's personal Doll Quilt Challenge also, you can read about those in my previous posts. Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog.
This is absolutely beautiful.....such a well-thought-out quilt! I can't think that anyone would be less than thrilled to receive it!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter made a Raggedy Ann doll this summer at her Aunt's home. It was one of those panels that you cut out & follow the directions...it was truly her first "all by herself" sewing project.
OH YEAH! I think she is going to like it too! It's positively charming.
ReplyDeleteI adore raggedy Ann and Andy. I love the quilting on it. It's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is just so darling and I love it and it seems to me within the realm of possibility that this might head my way. Just maybe. If I'm lucky!
ReplyDeleteI am the lucky partner that received your raggedy ann quilt! I love it! I am away for the weekend so I won't see it in person until Monday. DD called me when it arrived and I had her open it and describe it to me. I knew right away which one it was because I had marked it as a favorite on flickr just recently! I can't wait to see it in person and will email you after I do but I borrowed a friend's laptop so I could at least leave you a comment.
