Photography/Orchids/Dad

I write this post with tears streamy down my face, it still hurts 6 years later. My Dad is with the Lord but the separation is only tolerable with the knowledge that God promises we will be reunited. My Dad's love of flowers and photography has had such an impact on my life {two of my most favorite things}, of course you wouldn't have been able to tell me that when I was a teenager. My parents owned a greenhouse business for 45 years. There are a just few pictures of flowers in those albums and collection of slides.

Floral Cards

I really like this BIG, I mean really BIG floral stamp. Two of the images are water colored, cut out, glittered edges and embellished with beaded stick pin and the other is colored on velum with marker and added edged chunky glitter. (stampin up hostess stamp). The only small problem is the stick pin doesn't go thru regular mail, need a padded larger envelope.

Fruit of summer

We picked strawberries, and had some dacquaries, and homemade pizza with lots of toppings. Sunday is are day to cook together!

Quilt Swirls

This beautiful blue/brown quilt was made by one of my very special clients. Her work is exceptional and she has a great eye for color. This quilting design is swirls, a simple design as not to take away from the quilt top design and done in a taupe thread to blend.

Red Pumps

Water colored this card,

with a little glitter. Let's dance.

My Summer Flowers

Sunflowers and zinnias, love the colors of summer, so bright and the textures and shapes.

House Quilt

This house quilt was a lot of fun picking all of the different bright fabrics and the novelty prints for the windows. I put a crystal on each door as a knob and this is the first time I used prarie points and I did a fun stack and whack border.

Back Heart Quilt

Client's Quilt

This "Heart" quilt was so much fun to quilt...I was allowed total freedom to design the quilting to be done. I used some beautiful feather and rose patterns in a beige thread color , blocks, triangles and borders. The back was a plain muslin and could be used as a reversible wholecloth quilt, the back is very lovely. I can only add 4 photos per post, so I will add another post right after this one showing the back of the quilt.

Quilting for Client

This beautiful quilt is so romantic and soft pretty pastel colors. The quilt is a queen size and has amazing embroidered borders running down each side. I really enjoyed the custom quilting that I did, there were many borders and block and sashing designs.

Quilt in a Day

I really enjoy the satisfaction of having a project DONE, something to show for your time. These are great utility quilts. I also like the fact that if I find a fabric that I just love {which is the case with many Amy Butler fabrics} you can "highlight the focus fabric and not cut it up into tiny pieces and enjoy the whole lovely piece". I quilted an overall pantograph pattern "sweet william" by Kim Diamond in a blue thread, to have high contrast on the white backing to "show" the quilting. We use this in our family room, on the deck in the summer by the pool...it gets used and used, I've washed it and it is loved.

Quilting for Client

This lady does beautiful applique work. I quilted some very intricate designs between the applique spaces. Her classic use of yellow, red and black is very striking.

Quilt for Friends Baby

This quilt was a pre-printed panel with adding a couple of borders. A princess pantograph was quilted and a high lofty batting was used to give a more of a comforter feel. Turned out really cute.
