Blogger Quilt Festival -Fall 2009

I'm participating in Amy's Blogger Quilt Festival! Thank you Amy for working so hard for all of us to enjoy this event. Head on over to her blog and check out all the quilts!

This art quilt is a lap size and I used Denyse Schmidt fabric and quilted with ONS, panto of dahlias in orange thread on my long arm machine. The quilting is very detailed and quite heavy and I just love the way it came out. I enjoyed making this, something different than what I usually do.

I am one of Amy's sponsors and have a wonderful prize to one of you lucky winners, a Baker's Dozen of Kaffe Fassett Fat quarters! Good luck to all of you wonderful quilt bloggers! Thank you for stopping by.

Pink Saturday

Thank you for stopping by for pink saturday, thank you to our lovely hostess Beverly. Please stop by and visit Beverly at: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/myweblog/. I thought I'd use some of my scraps up in my bin so I have the start of a little doll quilt, I only cut the border and binding the rest is from scraps, just a free designing as you go, just concentrating on what colors I was feeling good about, of they were Pink. Now I just have left to quilt and bind it, love little pieces that get done, a sense of accomplishment. The two fabric groups are a couple I put together to list on my etsy site, some light pinks and some bright pinks...looking at these really gives me the sense of how just shades color can evoke feeling/mood. Happy PS everyone. Thanks for stopping by.

New Kaffe Fassett Book and other good reads

I really spoiled myself this last month with a few purchases books and magazines. The first one pictured is Kaffe's newest book "Quilt Romance'....I can't decide which quilt I want to make...I've been waiting for this book and it did not disappoint, I LOVE color. The next find on the magazine rack is Mary Janes Farm, I haven't read yet but there is an article on "barn Quilts" (painted) and another on repairing old quilts. Then I picked up my "must have" I have been collecting for several years now, every time they come out the Quilt Sampler, I read this one cover to cover and devour it. Of course, before you know it the holidays will be right here and I saw the Quilting Arts Gifts magazine and I am inspired for some Xmas gifts...I better get started, you know how time disappears. Joann's was having a sale 30% off so I picked up two books Strips n Curves StrataVarious Quilts, they both caught my eye and I though they look like a good way to use up some scraps with strip piecing. The only good thing about the bad weather coming is to be inside sewing and quilting.

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Sherpherd-That's Relationship!
I shall not want--That's Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures--That's Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters--That's Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul--That's Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness--That's Guidance!
for His name sake--That's Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death--That's Testing!
I will fear no evil--That's Protection!
For Thou art with me--That's Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me--That's Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies--That's Hope!
Thou annointest my head with oil--That's Consecration!
My cup runneth over--That's Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life--That's Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord--That's Security!
Forever--That's Eternity!

Pink Saturday

Thank you to our wonderful hostestt Beverly, please stop on over to her blog and say hello.
My first photo today is of bubble gum, yes, it's come down to me taking photos with my phone while waiting to cash out at the grocery store and what's on my mind "pink saturday", not sure what that says about me. The next two photos are of one of my many hobbies, rubber stamping card making, since I was taking all these photos for pink saturday, I decided to get some wallet photos made, mostly of florals and incorporate them into cards. The next photos are of some "pink diamonds", these diamonds were cut with my accuquilt machine and are of some of the kaffe fassett fabrics I sell on etsy, one day soon I hope to start sewing a stacked diamond quilt, which is one pattern I've always admired.
For Bev's weekly challenge, I have stopped by someone new to me today and here is her link:
http://foxglovesfabricandfolly.blogspot.com/ I was intriqued by her blog name and when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find a well put together blog, with etsy shops featuring beautiful pillows and birdie blankets that she makes and also the common interest we have other than PS is quilting, gardening, decorating, cooking to name a few, and her name is Heidi, which is also my sister's name which is fun. Happy PS everyone, thanks for stopping by today.

I love this first photo, anything to justify our indulgences, the 2nd photo, everyone loves peanuts right, the glads were from my garden and the pink fat quarters are from the kaffe fassett collecgtion I sell on etsy. The last pic was from the grocery store.....I just couldn't walk by without taking a photo of these beautiful gerber daisies, love them. Happy PS everyone, thanks for stopping by. Pink Saturday

Please stop by and visit our hostes Beverly. http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

I was at the grocery store and always have to stop at the magazine section and I was struck at all the pink in the covers, so I naturally whipped out my phone and started taking pics, luckily no one was around...to wonder what the heck is she doing, I didn't want to have to explain.
I've had a very pink week...some of the last of the roses of the season in my garden, I received a fabric order in Kaffe Fassett with some pink dots, I finished my zig zag quilt one row is pink, and I received my doll quilt swap with pinks. More pics and blogs on the two quilts in below posts.
Happy PS everyone, thanks for stopping by.

Doll Quilt Swap 7

Oh my gosh, I received my doll quilt swap 7, Thursday in the mail and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I was so surprised, you won't believe it but the night before I received it I had marked it as a fav on flickr. Molly from http://countryhill.blogspot.com/ made this for me, just me, me, me. Molly thank you so much. The colors are perfect, and it is just so adorable, the birds are as cute as can be and the birdhouse...the detail is awesome, the piecing is interesting with the flying geese and everything is perfect right down to the french knot for the birds eye. Molly thank you for your time and thought into putting this little piece of art together, I can't wait to put it up on my wall. This swap has been such a blessing.
