Pink Peony Fluers

Linking up today with Pink Saturday http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog

Portraits of my beloved Peonies....
Yes, they smell heavenly, absolutelly incredible...each variety has it's own unique scent.

The peony can have a very short season of bloom time, especially if it gets real hot or rains.  I read up this on being able to keep them longer and am giving it a try this year.  If you cut the buds when they are in the "marshmellow" stage and wrap them in cellopane and put in the fridg {with no fruit} they say you keep them for up to three months, take them out and place in 8" of warm water they open right up...so I am going to try it once a month for three months, July, August and September and I'll report back!
If I had to choose to be one flower, this would be it, they can live up to 100 years old and are very easy care, barely any maintenance.
I'll let you in on a secret...I have a dream, I want to have a cut flower farm, I'm researching, planning and dreaming stage right now.
They can take about three years to get the plants established.
There are bloom times of early, mid and late to try to extend the bloom season.
They make a wonderful bouquet, and make a great addition to any arrangement.
There are herbaceous, Itoh and tree peony to choose from.  There's full double, bomb, semi-double, japanese and single types of peony blooms.
They are also very lovely just floating in a glass bowl with a section of leaf, very elegant.
Blessings, Michelle

Feathered Nest Friday

Today I'm linking up with Feathered Nest Friday: http://frenchcountrycottage.blogspot.com/ Please go check out Countney's blog-French Country Cottage and see all the great links.

Gardening this spring and I stumbled upon this nest in my blue spruce pine, with four pretty blue eggs. Look at that one blue stringy thread, you'd think I'd planted it there, but not a chance, isn't that cool.
Then they hatched, I can't believe how fast these birds grow each day.
Next thing I know I'm on my deck and this little guy flies to my watering can and stayed there all night.
More spring friendly feathers hatched, swimming and walking about.

Blessings, Michelle

Garage Sale Finds

Pink Saturday-Today, albiet, late in the day, I'm linking up with Beverly, stop on over at:  http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog
Garage sales have never been a faviorite thing for me...I usually only see what appears to me as "junk" and I never find any of those great deals others always seen to find.  But, last week was different and may have changed my mind on garage sales to try again.  It may have been my lucky day.
I picked up this milkglass bud vase for fifty cents!
Oh, and another one for another fifty cents!
Yes, that's two for $1, I was thrilled.
Then I spotted this lead crystal cake stand for $3, I grabbed it fast, the bowl on top is just a little playing around today, someday I'll put a cake on it.
Three tea cups and saucers for $2 a piece, can you believe that, the other's I've paid from antique stores from $8-15,  yet never doing that again.
Look at these pretty danity flowers, aren't they sweet.
This one, has what I believe is hand painting the gold strokes are raised.
Love the way this one is shaped and the delicate handle, gold trim and lovely white flowers.

My diantus are just a tad too bright for the cup, but I couldn't resist.  Happy Pink Saturday!
Hugs, Michelle

Pink Saturday-Happy 4th Birthday

Linking up with Beverly over at Pink Saturday, stop by and check out all the pinks.   http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog
It's a celebration today for Beverly, this is the 4th Birthday of her Pink Saturdays link up party, Congrats to you Beverly, you've created a fun event that has brought much joy to many people and formed some "on-line" friendships.  My 1st Pink Saturday Post was on Beverly's 1st Anniversary May 30th, 2009.  So let's see, yep, that's three year's of Pink Saturdays for me, although I don't make every Saturday because well sometimes, life just happens.
This party was actually for my very good friend's birthday in February and I never did get around to posting it, but here's a pretty pink present with a handmade tag with a pink crochet flower.
Oh and I made my first attempt at the cake pops and are they yummy, I of course had to eat all the ones that the cake balls fell off of the sticks because I stuck them in too far or tapped the dripping chocolate a little too hard!
"Friendship"
A pretty black, white and pink card...love this combination.
That about does it all the components of a sweet little birthday get together, friends, presents, cake, birthday card and flowers!
 Happy Pink Birthday!
Hugs, Michelle
