Accuquilt-Diamonds-Pink Saturday-Homebread

Pink Saturday-stop on over to Beverly our lovely hostess and check out all of the links. http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Diamonds, Diamonds and more diamonds...This is my wip, I have been inspired again by the great Kaffe Fassett Fabric and Quilt designer.  In his book "Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts",  the quilt "Bordered Diamonds" caught my attention.  I'm using the accuquilt die, diamond, to do my cutting for me...layered up fabric, as you can see below, gives me lots of diamonds in no time at all.
http://www.kaffefassett.com/Home.html
 http://www.accuquilt.com/studio-shop/dies.html-
These are my piles of diamonds all cut and ready for putting border strips on them.  I have several layers in each pile.
Strips cuts, ready to be added, and this lovely fabric will be my binding...I think it will work out great, love the design.
This is what the die looks like, on the underside, don't you just love those little pink polka dots.

Here are three with borders added, as you can see I'm going to use brights....

Home made bread last night, added dried blueberries and cranberries....from the book "Dough:   Simple Contemporary Bread" by Richard Bertinet.  Awesome book, great photos, great recipes and a DVD to show you how.  Notice my salvage potholders have "pink" in them.
Daisy got a new leash...and yes it's PINK.
Have a gret weekend!  Hugs, Michelle

Accuquilt-8 point star-Botanical Gardens-$1,000 Shopping Spree Contest

Color, Design and Texture-I took a trip to the Botanical Gardens last Sunday, and as luck would have it there was an orchid display, which I photographed as well as the "green" stanbys .  As I was looking at my pics, I found a few that have inspired me.  I have had the Accuquilt 8-point star die on my wish list for a long time and after reviewing my photos I've found a few that have me "seeing stars" what do you think?  I love star quilts.  Accuquilt is having a "Design A Barn Quilt" contest and you could win a $1,000 shopping spree, just click on the icon to the right to enter.

TV Commercials and God

This is a photo of my daughter a few years ago, it's one of my favoritie, she is the best bubblegum blower of all, she always blows the bigest, bestest bubbles.    I hope you enjoy the below blurbs.

A Sunday school teacher asked her class to look at TV commercials, and see how they could use them in ways to communicate ideas aobut God.
Here are some of the results:

God is like Brayer Aspirin...He works miracles.
God is like a Ford...He's got a better idea.
God is like Coke...He's the real thing.
God is like Hallmark cards...He cares enough to send His very best.
God is like Tide...He gets the stains out that others leave behind.
God is like General Electric...He brings good things to life.
God is like Sears...He has everything.
God is like Alka-Seltzer...Try Him, you'll like him.
God is like Scotch tape...You can't see him, but you know He's there.
God is like Delta...he's ready when youa re.
God is like Allstate...You're in good hands with Him.
God is like VO-5 Hair spray...he holds through all kinds of weather.
God is like Dial soap...Aren't you glad you have Him.

Praise God, have a blessed week.  Michelle

We pray Father for provision for those in Japan Lord, for leaders across the world to step in and help, we pary for the churches in Japan to show Jesus Love.  Amen.

Tote Bag Finish/Crochet Slippers-Pink Saturday

Pink Saturday-stop on over to Beverly our lovely hostess and check out all of the links. http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Pink Saturday and St. Patty's Day-Pink and Green, two of my favorite combos.  I have a different style tote today, not my usual larger one with straps, but todays is shorter and has open hole handles, quilted pattern on my long arm.  I've used the lovely Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane fabric, I love roses.  I've put some of my newest crochet project inside too, I'm working on the Japenese Flower that's going around blog land.  Elizabeth Cat has a great tutorial for the crochet flower with great photos to go along...if you have never stopped over to her blog it is a must....color and color.  http://byelizabethcat.blogspot.com/

These Mary Jane crocheted slippers are so easy and worked up so fast.  You could make a pai ron a week evening after dinner.  I found the pattern here:  http://goodknits.com/blog/mary-jane-slippers/  The tutorial is great with good photos to follow along with.
Happy Pink Saturday!  Hugs, Michelle

Journal Quilt 2011

Journal Quilt Challenge, I've decided to join in when I can.  Not sure if I will be able to make one a week or not, but will make them when time allows.  You can get more information on the icon at the right.  There also photos here:  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1536032@N25/pool/with/5396013361/

I've been saving my salvages for quite some time now, but haven't done any projects with them and so I though this would be a great opportunity to use these.  I know it's simple, but I just wanted to try out the sewing them down onto foundation fabric and arranging in a rainbow color way.  Some weeks will be involving more time and technique than others.

I had this polka dot binding in first photo left over from another project and I think it was just what I wanted for this little journal quilt.
Cheers, Michelle
