Bloggers Quilt Festival-Fall 2012

Linking up with Amy's Creative Blogger's Quilt Festival, thanks Amy for another opportunity to visit so many beautiful quilts.  I really haven't had much time for months to work on quilting, except for simple designs.  I just moved on Monday (whew), just got cable/intranet service this afternoon.  This quilt is an attempt at some modern piecing, just using one focus fabric, a favorite vintage Santa print and your basic kona white.

I used an overall pantograph quilting desing of santa face and snowflakes and quilted in white thread and used a solid red kona backing and red binding machine stitched down, this ended up to be a twin size.  I really like the quilting design, it quilted up so nice.

At first I thought I didn't want to show a Christmas Quilt, but then when I went to get my Halloween candy last night it had all been moved to the sale area and the candy canes boxes were all lined up.  So hopefully no one minds seeing Christmas now, I think it's still early but it will be here before we know it.  Thank you for stopping by and taking a "peek".

Wasn't this a fun little tour, a different kind of garden walk.  Next year, I will have a bike in the garden!

Colors of the season

The last of the flowers of the season, yellows and orange!

Grew these from my own collected seed this year and just direct seeded them into the ground.

These yellow zinnia's were really nice and tall.

Yellow has always been one of my favorite colors.

These black eyed susans are so hardy.

Daylillies...tried and true.

Sure sign of later summer and early fall is the amazing Sunflower!

Fall, a wonderful season to sew!  I have five different fabrics I've used to make some quilted pillows up, they take a 16" pillow form .  I love to change my decor for each season, pillow decorating is one of them.

There are so many fantastic fabrics to choose from, it's hard to limit myself, anyone else have that problem.

Burlap Shabby Chic Tote Bag

Burlap...seems to be the "in" thing right now and I found the sweetest burlap with a black print to make these quilted {yes three layers of burlap, cotton batting and backing}tote bags with.  Added some black lace, a 3-D black flower pin and a taupe seambinding ribbon to complete the look.  The handles are nice and long to go over the shoulder and this is really durable bag for all kinds of uses {yarn goes my totes}. 

Of course, my daughter keeps asking me when she's ever going to get a tote from me...I may have to put one aside for Christmas for her.  Blessings, Michelle

Grew this in a pot this year on my deck, came out smaller than packet said, my first attempt for sunflowers, but still very pretty to look at.  Suppose to be edible seeds on this variety or organic heirloom.  Have a great day, smiles to you.

Strip Quilts Featured

Featuring Strip Quilts today, an awesome way to using jelly rolls, use up scaps, piece something quickly, or concentrate on a desiger grouping.  Stirps can vary in width, strips sometimes are even pieced.    Sizing varies from baby size quilts to lap quilts and larger.  They make nice charity quilts.  Enjoy the variety below, you can discover them in so many places.  This one below is one I made last fall using Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  It's just a small lap quilt.
