Doll Quilt-Amish Bars

This little doll quilt was inspired by an Amish Bars quilt from "Amish Doll quilts" by Rachel and Kenneth pellman.  I used Kaffe Fassett shot cottons, blueberry, sprout and terracotta.  I used a quilting pattern design from One Song needle.  Unfortunately, I messed up on the binding, but hopefully the quilting will outshine that little mistake.  I havn't worked too much with solids before, just one other doll quilt, but I definitely like them and will be doing more.  I also used a cotton batting and a tan thread, So Fine.

Today, I'm sharing a quilt that I quilted for one of my clients.  She always picks very pretty combinations of traditional fabric.  This is one of her strip quilts, her piecing is always fabulous and makes it a job to quilt, this one is a feather meander design with a tan thread.  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabuous fabric friday!

Pink Saturday

Please stop over to Beverly's, our hostest of today's event, http//howsweethesound.typepad.com.

One of my daughter's favorite things to do when we go shopping is she loves to stop at the perfume and make up counters and smell all the lovely scents.  There are soooo many georgous perfume bottles.  I'm thinking they ought to make them refillable....who wants to throw away those pretty bottles, wow, some are very pricey too.  The first batch of photos are from the counter at a local department store, then of course my phone died and when we went to one of her favorite places bath & body works I couldn't snap any photos, but I'm sure you all know what the pinks look like there.  Another trip and I stopped into VS and snapped a few, so many pretty pinks around the stores right now, I guess they really have caught on how to market to us by color!  So you know some of these lotions and potions will be under our tree this year, how about you what is your favoirte scent or do you try new ones each time, or are you going organic.  I won't spray anything on my skin anymore, I spray my clothes.

Happy Fabric Friday.  This is a very simple column quilt, inspiration from Kaffe Fassett V&A Museum Quilts Book.  The photos just dont' do the fabrics justice, they are very rich in color and complex design elements...I think Philip Jacobs print of the coleus is incredible, and the back is also a PJ print.  I quilted a new quilt design I have, in a plum thread but the quilting really doesn't show up too much with the fabulous prints take the center stage.

Quilted Christmas Gift

Shhhh....keep a secret....this is a sneak peak at a Christmas Quilt I'm making for a very special friend, it's going to be a wholecloth lap size quilt.  I've never stitched this pattern out before and it is turning out very nice, but wow, talk about thread and more thread, whew, taking lots of thread...about 1 and a hlaf blocks and I'm changing the bobbin.  The down side of this pattern as a long armer is the cutting of all the threads...but I think I'm starting to love the pattern the blocks are making together row after row and I think once it is watched and dried, it is going to look so very shabby chic and vintage.  What's everyone else working on for homemade gifts?  What do you think, I'm thinking an angels theme for this for items to go in the box with it.

Pink Saturday-Shopping at JoAnn's

Shopping this week at JoAnn's Fabric Store.....so here's some of the pinks I found pretty pink Christmas ordaments, sparklie pink glass beads, pink scrapbook supplies, bolts of fabric arranged by color just for me, delicate ribbon trims, breast cancer awareness scissors {which I picked a pair up...have who know how many pairs of sciccors but they're llike socks at my house they just disappear} and cutting mat and storage box, and beautiful texutred yarn is various shades of pink.   I am amazed at the variety of items you can find at JoAnn's these days.  Remember when it was just sewing items years ago?   I think at this rate I could easily have a "pink" Christmas.  Happy Pink Saturday and thanks for stopping by today.  Two more posts and I will be at 200-watch for a give away!

For my first "Fabric Friday", I'm showing my quilt ladder, featuring some new quilts I've made and some vintage quilt tops that I've purchased and quilted. This is in my family room and is one of the ways I decorate with quilts.
