Late Summer Blooms

Garden Hibiscus...red bloomed in late August, pink in bud (got cut down early by lawnmower), hoping it will still have time to bloom.

Bikes in Bloom

Sunday drive....I love when you are driving along and stmble upon something unexpected...I have a faviorite little quaint area of town I like and I missed the garden walk this year, but they still have these around thru September, I bet they were just fabulous in July. Isn't this a cute these idea for a garden walk. I would love to buy a house along here and wouldn't you know I found one for sale today...called on it and yes, of course they signed contracts this morning and sold it, but of course the real estate lady can help me sell my house and find something else.  Anyway, looks like each bike was sponsored by a greenhouse/landscape/florist business.  Some have cute themes like bumble bee, gardener, patriotic, and my favorite one is the lady bug. 

My  job was plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God, not we, who made it grow.  The ones who do the planting or watering aren't important, but God is important bvecause he is the one who makes the see grow.  The one who plants and the one who waters work as a team with the same purpose--1 Corinthians 3:6-8NTL

Asterisk Doll Quilt

Asterisk, my first attempt at one of these blocks.  I used Kaffe Fassett Shot Cotton for backing and Laura Gunn -Poppy/Lantern Collection for the front.  I really like the feeling the border print added, photos done with I-phone, so excuse, but I was excited to post.

Butler & Fassett-Amy & Kaffe

Neat title...Out of town this week for my day JOB...so I treated myself with 5 of my favorite magazines (I have more, but have to draw the line somewhere sometimes). Two of my favorite designers are in two of the maazines with articles....lots of eye candy in these 5 magazines...enjoying being able to sit and read little.  Sorry about the quality of the photos taken with my i-phone and uploaded while away.

Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen-Finger Lakes Region, NYS.  This is one of my favorite places to go hiking and not just because there are 100 wineries for tastings, as you will see, the lush green foilage with crystal clear waterfalls and grey texture of the rock are stunning.  It's about a 2 1/2 hour ride from where I live, at Seneca Lake one of the 10 Finger Lakes, and yes I have proof went I am in one of the photos.  I hope to go back in the fall and capture the same photos in glorious color and maybe in winter too for some contrast.  I was thinking of what Kaffe Fassett many times will say in his books and interview is to look around you and pick up on color combinations and design, so I'm thinking maybe a green, grey type of quilt with some designs of curved bars or stipes or applique, umm.... would best describe these photos, what do you think...

Baby Doll Quilt

I was inspired by one of the doll quilt books I was reading through and saw a very simple, old one patch using a striped fabric and a floral print and I just like the simplicity of the two fabrics together, granted their's was a muted white/blue/gold color way.  But I love this Kaffe Floral print and wanted to use it.  I quilted a feathered rose heart pattern that I really like, looks great when done on a solid whole cloth or on an every other block whole cloth square, but still I wanted to use it because it is another favorite, so favorite fabric and fabric quilt design.  Have a blessed day!
